My success story is a journey of an unlikely transformation. Fitness did not come to me naturally. In spite of the fact that my family is in the fitness industry, I had no intention to understand the fitness business. Being fit and maintaining fitness was the last agenda of my life. My genetic makeup is neither the best for getting a six-pack, nor was I an athlete growing up. Like many people, I got carried away living the urban lifestyle and packed on a few extra kilos. I was unhappy about being out of shape. I dreaded the idea of trying new clothes and finding nothing fits.
“Fit is not a destination! It is a way of life…”
At some point, I decided to take charge of my health and fitness. I began the relentless journey of dropping the extra weight. I started working out in order to fit into a smaller pair of jeans! It was only when I sat back to contemplate my lifestyle and paid attention to my body signals that I finally experienced some results. Eventually, I did lose the extra weight. Everything in my wardrobe was now too big for me and again nothing fit! By this time in my life, I had come to realize that I needed to empower myself with proper knowledge.
“Laziness fuels more laziness. Activity fuels more activity.”
I became determined to garner the best fitness qualifications and world-class credentials. I voraciously acquired several professional certifications including •ACE Personal Trainer •Shortcut-to-Size by Jim Stoppani •Gold’s Gym University Certification. Having experienced all the struggles of trying to get permanently fit, I know what works and what doesn’t, all of this through practical first-hand experience. I also have the experience of working with over 100 clients via one-on-one training and group exercise classes.
Getting it Right
“The body achieves what the mind believes.”
I have been at both extremes of clothes-being-too-small to clothes-being-too-big and what most people don’t realize is that the transformation is actually easy. It might look hard but the limitations are in your mind. Yes, it does require a certain amount of consistency, commitment, and discipline. But there is a right-and-easy way to do it. The key to your success is adapting yourself to healthier lifestyle changes. Like many people, I have also succumbed to crash-dieting and over-training. I have done unhealthy things like regularly going to sleep hungry and then binging every weekend. Being fit is a process. If you align yourself with the process you are bound to get the results.
The Key to Success
“Right Workout with Right Nutrition”
My success at getting fit started only when I acknowledged the importance of Right Workout along with Right Nutrition. If you can find the right workout plan and supplement it with the right nutrition, you will barely even notice how easily you’re getting fit. My transformation journey has been the easiest, however not the shortest - It takes what it takes. It is important to recognize that everyone’s body type is unique. And paying attention to your body’s signals is the key to success. The vast majority of people do not comprehend what this means or how to do it. That’s why I take the time to understand my clients’ lifestyle, work, family stressors, fondness for a particular style of exercise and past workout experiences.
Once I create a client’s profile, I can design a unique program exclusively for them. I also insist that clients substitute dairy and gluten with other appropriate foods, during the transformation. I have educated myself about fitness and now hold several internationally qualified personal training certifications. I have become an expert in the cutting edge of fitness training.
What Motivates Me?
“Exercise has been known to cause health and happiness.”
I was living in New York when I got an unexpected call from home informing me that my father was ill and hospitalized. I had to move from NYC to India overnight. While my father was in the hospital for over a month, the responsibility of conducting the daily affairs of the business fell upon me. Coming from a Clinical Social-Work background I had no business acumen at that time. It was a tough couple of months. Without much support, I failed a couple of times too. Every day I would ponder if only my dad had taken better care of his health, maybe this situation would never have come. Few years down the line it made all the sense. Everything turned out for the greater good. My motivation to spread fitness comes from this incident. I believe it is the moral responsibility of every parent to stay fit and be better role models for their children.
